MY STORY

Sudasolar is an online educational platform for solar energy focused towards youth and non-professionals. Its idea started after a talk with a friend in Costa Coffee Cafe in Doha in September 2016.

Sudasolar is my little project that aims to educate and create a strong sense of awareness about solar energy technologies. Renewable energy is a major driver for bringing about a sustainable development in Africa.

نواة البداية لسوداسولار كانت في عام ١٤٣٧ هـ/٢٠١٦م بعد جلسة تنويرية مع صديق في مقهى كوستا كوفي في الدوحة، قطر.

سودا سولار هو مشروعي للتوعية و التثقيف و التعليم بالطاقة الشمسية . هذه المنصة ستحتوي الكثير من المراجع و الوسائل التعليمية بالإضافة لمساحات نقاشية بين المهتمين بمجال الطاقة الشمسية في أفريقيا خاصة و العالم عموما. الطاقة المتجددة هي وسيلة فعالة لتحقيق تنمية مستدامة في الدول النامية.

About Me

I am a Mechatronics engineer. I got my BEng from The University of Nottingham in 2012 and then my MSc in Energy Technology from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2014. I have been interested a lot (and still is!) in solar energy technologies since my BEng and tried to self-teach myself all about it. My interests within the solar energy field include business and finance, off-grid solar, PV lighting and irrigation systems, economic assessment, solar cookers, policy drivers and others!

 أنا مهندس ميكاترونكس. حصلت على البكلاريوس من جامعة نوتنقهام في ٢٠١٢ و من ثم الماجستير في ٢٠١٤ من الجامعة الوطنية الماليزية في تخصص علوم الطاقة. إهتمامي بالطاقة الشمسية بدأ منذ فترة البكلاريوس و هو ما دفعني للتعلم و القراءة و الاستكشاف. مجالات الطاقة الشمسية التي أهتم بها تشمل إدارة الأعمال و التمويل لمشاريع الطاقة الشمسية، الطاقة اللامركزية، الإنارة و الري، تقييم الجدوى الاقتصادية لمشاريع الطاقة الشمسية و السياسات و غيرها.

  3. Speaker at the Qatar Green Buildings Conference 2016 : Implementation of rooftop solar PV in Qatar through the roof-rental business model.[Download Conference Paper].
  4. Solar Energy Research Award 2016 – Student Poster Category. This award was given by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) for my poster presented at the Building-integrated PV workshop hosted in the Qatar National Convention Center. I presented a design for a gallery for solar technologies that integrates PV panels onto the building walls.

  8. Qatar Sustainability Award 2017 – Green Research Category. This award for a section of my review paper:”A review of Qatar’s water resources, consumption and virtual water trade” that addressed policy recommendations for sustainable water resources management.  The award was given by the Qatar Green Building Council.
  9. Best Green Sustainable Initiative Award 2018: This award was given by the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency “Tarsheed” which is managed by the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa”, Ministry of Energy and Industry. The title of my initiative was: “Modelling of a Solar-driven Energy Efficient Thermal Desalination Plant under Qatar’s Climate”.
